🔥 6 FITNESS MYTHS (Tag a Friend) 🔥
1️⃣ Eating Carbs at night/before bed causes them to be stored as fat... Uh NO‼️ Nutrition should be looked at in a 24 hour window ⏱. WHEN you choose to consume your Carbs/Calories throughout the day has VERY LITTLE effect on overall fatloss/fatgain.
2️⃣Creatine causes bloating. FALSE‼️ Creatine causes your body to water INTRACELLULARLY, meaning inside of your cells- not below your skin. Bloating occurs when water is held just beneath the skin and gives off that "soft" appearance, creatine deals with an entirely different mechanism here.
3️⃣ Eating more often speeds up your metabolism 🔥... FALSE‼️ I'm sorry that we still have to discuss this in 2017, but 99.5% of what dictates fatloss is your NET ENERGY BALANCE. If you have 2000 cals to eat a day, that can be split up however you want... Don't be a slave to food 😩
4️⃣ BCAA's provide additional muscle building benefits outside of ones protein intake. INCORRECT‼️ This one upsets people often because they love their BCAA drinks... but- given you are consuming an ADEQUATE protein intake (roughly .8-1.2g per lb that you weigh), BCAA's have been shown to provide NO NOTICEABLE BENEFITS when supplemented with.
5️⃣Squats are an awesome Glute builder 🍑! NOPE, not very true actually‼️ Squats are primarily a QUAD 🍗 builder and the EMG studies show moderately LOW Glute activation on this lift. 🤔BETTER options for Glute development would be any Hip Thrust variation, Hyperextensions with a rounded Mid-Back, and/or External Rotation Hip exercises.
6️⃣ AB WORK GETS US ABS!!!! Well, not quite‼️ One MUST be in a caloric surplus to actually build new muscle- abs included. From there, progressive overload must be applied consistently. Even further, one must later cut down to reveal their newly built abs- and at that point, their entire ABDOMINAL SHAPE AND STRUCTURE is going to be dictated by their genetics! You cannot turn a 4 pack into a 6 pack through ab exercises- I'm sorry 😬

Seriously guys if you don't own a set of resistance bands invest in them! They are less than 10 dollars and can really help you step your workout up a notch! 💟
In order to really know how to build your glutes, you need to know the science behind the glutes. There are 3 muscles involved within the glutes. We have the gluteus maximus, the gluteus medius and the gluteus minimus. These muscles are used every single day when we do activities such as walking but in order for them to grow, we need to isolate them in our training.
If you’re looking to increase the size of a muscle, you need to use progressive overload and train them intensely.
How can you ensure progressive overload?
1️⃣ Increase your reps while using the same weight
2️⃣ Lift heavier loads with the same rep range
3️⃣ Increase the number of sets you do
Although you can build muscle from a wide variety of rep ranges, the best rep range for muscle growth is ~6-12 using a HEAVY load. Yes, if you want to build up a muscle group you need to train HEAVY.
The glutes work best when the hips are close to full extension. Some of the best exercises to grow the glute muscles are:
Kettle bell swings
Hip external rotations
Single leg elevated hip thrusts
